Trump Invited to Appear Before Scottish Parliament Committee

Donald Trump has been invited to appear before a Scottish Parliament Committee, as part of questioning a range of experts and others on renewable energy, reports BBS.

“The committee agreed they wanted to hear from Donald Trump about his wider concerns regarding the impact of wind energy development on tourism and the economy in Scotland,” Murdo Fraser, Economy Committee convener, said.

Mr. Trump has suspended construction of his £1bn luxury golf resort in Aberdeenshire as a result of the proposed plans to build an offshore wind farm nearby. He however might be ready to spend £10m while confronting such developments.

Mr. Fraser added: “The committee is clear that it wants to hear from all sides of the argument – and is inviting a range of organizations to ensure we hear all perspectives on this controversial and complex subject.”

The cross-party committee is also interested in determining whether the government’s green energy targets can be met, if there is enough investment in new technology and the possible impacts on consumer bills.
