U.S. weekly LNG exports edge down

Liquefied natural gas exports from the U.S. dropped following three weeks of steady rise. 

According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), U.S. LNG export facilities have shipped a total of 12 LNG cargoes with a combined capacity of 43 Bcf between November 14 and November 20.

Out of the 12 cargoes, Cheniere’s Sabine Pass shipped six, three were shipped from its Corpus Christi plant, while Dominion’s Cove Point facility shipped two cargoes. The remaining cargo was shipped from Sempra Energy’s Cameron LNG project.

EIA further noted that the Freeport LNG project 60 miles south of Houston on Quintana Island, Texas, filed a letter with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requesting permission to place Train 1 in service.

Train 1 (capacity 0.7 Bcf/d) exported its first LNG cargo in September and exported a total of seven cargoes to date.

Freeport Train 2 is undergoing commissioning and is expected to begin LNG production in January 2020, followed by Train 3 in May 2020.
