Lamprell Shipyard Splashes Turbine Installation Vessel Brave Tern

Saturday 12th May 2012 saw the official launch of Windcarrier NO’s latest vessel the Brave Tern at the Lamprell Shipyard in Dubai. The Brave Tern is the largest custom built turbine installation vessel of her type currently in existence.

Her launch marks an important milestone in the Fred. Olsen ‘master plan’ to capture the offshore renewable market and provide the industry with a real and complete ‘Tern Key’ solution.

Present at the launch representing GWS was CEO Lars Petersen.

It was a magnificent day in Dubai and the Brave Tern is a truly awesome feat of engineering. Her launch not only heralds a new chapter in the Fred. Olsen story but also represents a new phase in the development of all the Fred. Olsen associated companies. We at GWS are very much looking forward to sailing and work aboard this mighty vessel,” said Lars Petersen.

The Brave Tern is the first of two identical vessel commissioned by Fred. Olsen specifically for the installation of turbines in the European market – her sister ship, the Bold Tern, is due for completion towards the end of this year.
