UAE: Seajacks Holds Official Steel Cutting Ceremony for 4th Vessel
The official Steel Cutting Ceremony for Seajacks’ fourth vessel was held on 20 November 2012 at Lamprell’s Hamriyah facility in Dubai.
Self-propelled and self-elevating, Seajacks Hydra has been specifically designed for installation and maintenance services in the offshore wind and oil and gas sectors. The vessel will be equipped with a high speed jacking system, 400t crane and be able to operate in water depths up to 48m.
Lamprell Energy has built all three of Seajacks’ current vessels; Kraken, Leviathan and Zaratan, delivering each on time and on budget. Since becoming operational from 2010, Seajacks vessels have installed 230 turbines on wind farm projects in the UK and performed work for major oil and gas clients including ExxonMobil, TAQA and Shell.
Seajacks Kraken is currently undertaking a two year well intervention and maintenance campaign for Shell UK and NAM in the Southern North Sea, while Seajacks Leviathan and Seajacks Zaratan work in tandem on the construction of the Meerwind Offshore Wind Park in Germany.
Seajacks Hydra is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2014.
