UD Researcher to Talk Wind Energy

The University of Delaware (UD) is to hold the first Green Liaisons sustainability lecture of the spring tomorrow from 1p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Ewing Room.

The lecture will feature UD researcher Jeremy Firestone, who will speak about the wind turbine located on the University’s Lewes campus.

As a faculty member in the School of Marine Science and Policy and director of the University of Delaware’s interdisciplinary Center for Carbon-free Power Integration, Firestone will also discuss his research, which focuses on offshore wind.

Currently, Firestone is conducting a survey funded by BOEM to evaluate how offshore wind may potentially affect beach choices from South Carolina to Cape Cod.

In addition, he is working on a NOAA Sea Grant award that will gauge Maryland and Delaware resident’s willingness to pay a premium for offshore wind.

Once a month, Green Liaisons are invited to attend a lunchtime presentation on the small steps that can be implemented by every student, faculty and staff member in order to make UD a greener place to learn, work and live.
