UK: Rig Trawler Nereus Completes Handover Trials at Macduff Shipyards

Rig Trawler Nereus Completes Handover Trials at Macduff Shipyards

The 19m twin rig trawler “Nereus” has run successful handover trials at Macduff Shipyards. The vessel was originally contracted to be built in Portugal by a company in Mallaig but the Shipyard went into liquidation in 2002 after completing the hull and superstructure work.

Macduff Shipyards have completed the outfitting and engineering and the vessel is now rigged for freezing prawns at sea.

Designed by Macduff Ship Design the vessel is a sistership to the “Green Isle” that was delivered to it’s Mallaig owners in 2001.
