UK: Second Round of First Flight Wind Consultations Kicks Off on Monday

UK Second Round of First Flight Wind Consultations Kick Off on Monday

The second round of Information Days hosted by First Flight Wind will commence on Monday 9th September at Ardglass Golf Club.

Open to the public from 10am – 8pm those who attend can meet members of the Project Team and learn about the project’s development activities.

First Flight Wind is proposing to develop an offshore wind farm in the waters off the Co. Down coast that would have a capacity of 600 Megawatts (MW). A project of this size could generate up to 20% of Northern Ireland’s electricity demand, and will go far to help the UK meet its carbon emissions reduction targets for 2020.

In December 2011, The Crown Estate, as the owner of the UK seabed, launched a tender to select a developer for a 600MW offshore wind project within the Tender Resource Zone off the south east coast of Co. Down.* The First Flight Wind consortium was selected in October 2012.
