Ukraine interested in taking part in Croatian LNG project

Ukraine is interested in taking part in the Croatian LNG project as a partner, according to the country’s prime minister Volodimir Groysman.

Following a meeting with his Croatian counterpart, Andrej Plenković, Groysman said that the Ukraine is looking to diversify its sources of oil and gas sources, a statement issued by the Ukrainian government’s website shows.

Croatian plans to build the LNG terminal coincide with Ukraine’s priorities Groysman said.

In April, the Croatian government opted to develop the floating LNG terminal as it is expected it could be completed in 2018.

It was then reported that the floating LNG terminal would not exclude the following three stages of the project, that include the construction of the land-based terminal, if the development is declared feasible.

The project would have the initial capacity of around two billion cubic meters of gas per year, a lot less than the 6 billion cubic meters of annual capacity planned for the land-based terminal on the island of Krk.

LNG Croatia (LNG Hrvatska), the company developing the LNG terminal, issued a tender calling for interested parties to bid in a procurement process for services of preparation of project and permitting documentation for the construction of the floating LNG terminal Krk ad consulting services related to obtaining necessary permits and approvals.

The tender closes on November 22, according to the document.

The winning bidder will be responsible for the preparation of projects relating to the LNG terminal and storage facility, as well as designing and managing of the terminal and accompanying facilities.
