Ukrainian PM Opposition Must Assume Responsibility for Gas Deals with Russia

Opposing political forces have to assume responsibility for the inked gas contracts with Russia according to which Ukraine annually overpays for fuel over USD 7 bln. This was informed by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov in the process of his meeting with journalists of Ukrainian TV channels.

“Ukraine overpays more than 7 billion dollars year-on-year. Opposing forces must assume responsibility and tell: “We are accountable for that,” the head of Government called on.

He stressed that the present Government is the successor of the previous one, who concluded the contract which adversely affected Ukrainian economics.

“Through it (the contract) we have many disproportions, including in mining and metallurgical complex, having huge problems in chemical industry, as 90% in the structure of production of fertilizers is the cost of gas. But they (opposition) avoid this responsibility, do not take it on,” the Premier summed up.
