USA: 2011 ACT Expo to Showcase New Natural Gas Vehicle Innovations and Emerging Technologies

The 2011 Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo will showcase new natural gas technologies, including the latest information and products in the advanced clean vehicle technology and alternative fuel transportation sector.

The ACT Expo will include a robust lineup of natural gas OEMs, fleet operators and service providers to discuss their investments in alternative fuels and will share their experiences and best practices. These industry leaders will highlight opportunities for fleet owners to reduce costs, operate more efficiently and reduce environmental impacts by transitioning to alternative fuels, like natural gas.

Natural gas highlights at the 2011 ACT Expo will include:

Mike Britt, director of maintenance and engineering, ground fleet for United Parcel Service (UPS):

Britt will discuss the company’s recent order of 48 LNG class-8 heavy-duty tractors and partnership to develop a new public access LNG refueling station in Las Vegas, and review the UPS “rolling laboratory” approach to alternative fuel vehicle technologies.

Jeff Shefchick, president, Paper Transport:

Shefchick will discuss the company’s class-8 natural gas tractor project where CNG-powered Freightliner trucks are hauling freight more than 130,000 miles a year between Green Bay, Wisc. and Chicago.

Scott Perry, group director of vehicle supply management, Ryder:

Perry will present an overview of the company’s groundbreaking commercial truck rental and leasing program that will deploy nearly 250 heavy-duty LNG and CNG trucks into the market, supported by two new LNG/LCNG refueling stations in Ryder’s yards. Perry will share how these efforts are satisfying increased customer demand for trucks that have lower operating costs and better environmental performance.

Tim Denny, vice president, Chesapeake Energy Corporation:

Denny will provide an update on the company’s aggressive project to deploy 5,000 light and medium-duty natural gas vehicles throughout the company’s operating fleet. Denny will share how the company’s strategic partnerships are helping to build a comprehensive refueling network to support these vehicles and other regional NGV users.

In addition, Daimler Trucks North America will showcase its advanced technology truck platforms, including a CNG Freightliner Cascadia, a Freightliner M2 tractor LNG, and a variety of other CNG, LNG, hybrid electric, hydraulic hybrid, and electric vehicles.
