USA: Arthur Kill Channel Dredging Begins

Arthur Kill Channel Dredging Begins

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has commenced the Arthur Kill Channel dredging project.

This USACE’s project involves dredging on nearly 38 miles of shipping channels between New York and New Jersey.

We’ve been trying to keep up with the evolving developments of container (ship) design,” stated Bryce Wisemiller, project manager.

He also added that this deepening project is designed to facilitate efficient transportation of goods.

The cost of the project is being shared between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The completion of the Arthur Kill Channel dredging project is scheduled for 2013.
