USA: City of Barstow, FleetStar to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Gas Refueling Station

Barstow’s mayor, Joe Gomez, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m. PDT to mark FleetStar’s takeover of Barstow liquefied and compressed (LNG/CNG) natural gas refueling station operations. Invited dignitaries include key community leaders, representatives of the Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District, and the Barstow City Council.

FleetStar is a fully owned subsidiary of Applied Natural Gas Fuels, Inc., and has nearly two decades’ experience operating retail natural gas stations, including a station at the UPS location by the Ontario International Airport.

The Barstow station, located at 100 N. Sandstone Court, has easy access ‘on and off’ Interstates 15 and 40, with 24-hour public access and pull-through drives designed for heavy-duty rigs, provides multiple fuel dispensers, and offers various payment methods. The site is well lit and offers a safe location with easy-to-use refueling equipment.

With drivers experiencing gasoline and diesel prices above $4.00 per gallon across California, the station offers clean, domestically produced natural gas—both LNG and CNG—at significant savings, typically more than a dollar less per equivalent gallon than regular fuels.

Gomez said, “Barstow is fortunate to be located on one of the nation’s busiest heavy‐duty truck corridors with an increasing number of trucks operating with natural gas engines. We have also seen major growth in other alternative fuel vehicles, including passenger cars and smaller trucks that use CNG. Whether you are operating a large truck and making deliveries out of the Ports into Nevada or Utah, or you are a vacationer crossing the Mojave Desert, the Barstow station will help you safely and inexpensively reach your destination.”

Cem Hacioglu, President and CEO of Applied Natural Gas Fuels, reports, “We are pleased to partner with the City of Barstow as we provide LNG and CNG along these critical Interstate Corridors. Owners of natural gas vehicles want assurance that fuel will be available as they travel. FleetStar is set to meet those needs today with plans to add additional fueling stations as more fleets and individual users opt for clean, domestic natural gas fuels.”
