USA: Enbridge Corp. Moves Workers from Offshore Pipelines

Pipeline company Enbridge Corp. said yesterday it will remove 20 to 30 non-essential personnel from offshore natural-gas infrastructure attached to its pipelines.

The company operates seven offshore pipeline systems, which carry roughly 2.3 billion cubic feet of gas per day onshore. A spokeswoman did not specify from which pipeline systems personnel were being removed. The U.S. National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical depression looming over the Bahamas, which is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm within 12 hours. If the system strengthens into a storm, winds will reach 39 to 73 miles per hour. The storm would be named Bonnie. A U.S. Air Force reconnaissance plane has been sent to examine the depression.
