Foss Maritime to Hire Workers for New Washington State Ferry

Foss Maritime Co. of Seattle will build a replacement 20-car state ferry to operate on Lake Roosevelt, a remote location requiring the ferry be built in sections and transported across the state. Officials of Foss Maritime Co have not decided yet how many workers the Company will need for a construction of new Washington State ferry at their Rainier shipyard.

The State Department of Transportation announced on November 17 that Foss won a $9.6 million bid to build a replacement state ferry for Lake Roosevelt in Northeast Washington.

This new Keller ferry needs to be large enough to transport 20 vehicles between the towns of Wibur and Keller. The ferry is going to be built in Rainier and assembled on Lake Roosevelt.

Foss spokeswoman Megan Aukema said she hopes to have more information on the ferry project later this week.

The Foss Seattle shipyard, one of the most completely equipped yards on the Pacific coast, offers full-service vessel repair and maintenance. The team of experienced craftspeople provides cost-effective vessel repairs, major conversions and routine maintenance to commercial and recreational vessels. They service tugs, barges, workboats, passenger and car ferries, fishing fleets, high-speed passenger vessels, fish processing vessels, government vessels and yachts.
