USA: Housatonic River Dredging Begins Soon

Before the end of October, the dredging vessel Currituck will begin its work on the boat channel in the Housatonic River between Stratford and Milford.

This $750,000 project will increase the channel depth to about 14 feet, stated Bill Rock, chairman of the Stratford Waterfront and Harbor Management Commission.

The project includes removing of 50,000 cubic yards of silt from the Housatonic River channel.

For 13 years we’ve been working on this,” concluded Rock.
