USA: Island Authority Seeks Permission for Pensacola Beach Renourishment

The Santa Rosa Island Authority plans to bring in some new sand to combat the erosion on the Pensacola Beach, but that takes a permit from the federal government.

Officials want to replenish the Pensacola Beach with sand from the gulf, but getting the federal government’s permit can take some time.

The Island Authority has already spent $75,000 on the permitting process.

The shrinking beach can also create other problems especially when mother nature comes calling.

Escambia County is also planning to bring in new sand on the Portofino gulf side to help with beach restoration.
