Macduff Shipyards: Hull of the 16m Tug Completed

Macduff Shipyards, in the North East of Scotland, has completed the Hull of the 16m tug under construction for John Mcloughlin and Son. Based on the highly successful “Sally Mcloughlin” built for the same owner the new vessel will have a bollard pull approaching 25 tonnes.

The vessel is a repeat build of MSY 648 however a larger reduction gearbox and bigger propellers/nozzles are expected to deliver more power from the same Doosan 4V222TIH producing 800hp at 1800rpm.

Other modifications to the design include a upgrade forward winch, supplied by North Sea Winches, and additional fenders fitted around the forward shoulders.
