USCG Detains Majesty of the Seas due to Safety Issues

The 1992-built cruise ship Majesty of the Seas was detained in the port of Canaveral on Monday afternoon following the US Coast Guard’s inspection.

Namely, the inspectors found issues with the vessel’s life-saving equipment and asked that the issues be resolved before the ship is allowed to continue sailing.

“On Monday, February 13, the U.S. Coast Guard conducted a routine inspection of Majesty of the Seas. They came across some technical issues, including some outdoor lifejackets that were showing their age,” Royal Caribbean’s Spokesperson told WMN in an emailed statement.

“The replacements arrived to the ship and the other issues were addressed. “

Owned by cruise company Royal Caribbean, the 268-meter-long ship embarked on its voyage to the Bahamas a day later, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to AIS data provided by MarineTraffic, the vessel is currently underway to the port of Nassau.
