VBMS Pulls In First EOWDC Export Cable
VBMS has pulled ashore the first export cable for Vattenfall’s 92.4MW European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) located in the Aberdeen Bay, Scotland.
Royal Boskalis Westminster, the parent company of VBMS, and Vattenfall signed the Offshore Balance of Plant contract for the construction of the wind farm in July 2016, with the exception of the wind turbine supply.
Shortly after, VBMS confirmed it will be in charge of installing inter-array and export cables at the site. The company chose JDR to supply more than 20 kilometers of 66kV inter-array and export cables for the wind farm.
The 92.4MW EOWDC, also known as Aberdeen offshore wind farm, will comprise eleven MHI Vestas 8.4MW turbines scheduled for installation in March 2018.
The wind farm is expected to generate first power this summer and operate for 20 years.
