VIDEO: 3-Minute Panama Canal Transition

Have you ever passed through the Panama Canal? The following video, captured from Teekay’s Teesta Spirit, shows the amount of effort needed for a 184-meter tanker to squeeze through the canal.

Teesta Spirit started off at the Balboa Anchorage and transited through three sets of locks before reaching her final destination, the Atlantic Ocean.

It is estimated that 13,000 to 14,000 ships pass through the Panama Canal each year. A vessel like Teesta Spirit can spend up to 8 hours passing through the Canal.
