VIDEO: Aasta Hansteen LQ start its journey to South Korea

Offshore Energy Today recently reported that living quarters built for Statoil’s Aasta Hansteen platform had sailed away from The Netherlands to South Korea to be mounted on the platform’s topsides at the Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Ulsan shipyard.

Once completed, the platform will be located in the Norwegian Sea and operated by the Norwegian company Statoil.

Statoil published a video of the quarters being boarded onto the heavy lift and transportation vessel Dockwise Swan and setting sail to Korea.

The seven floor LQ, built by a Dutch company CKT Projects, measure 50 times 25 metres, and can accommodate 108 people. The journey to South Korea is 11 000 nautical miles and the living quarters will arrive in January 2016.

The video also shows one of the mega blocks of the Aasta Hansteen hull being lifted into place.
