HMS Queen Elizabeth Floated Out

The lead ship of the Queen Elizabeth-class of aircraft carrier, the largest warship ever built for the Royal Navy, HMS Queen Elizabeth has been successfully floated out of the dock in Rosyth.

Capable of carrying up to forty aircraft, the 65,000-tonne warship was officially named by the Queen Elizabeth earlier this month.

The official handover ceremony is scheduled for 2016 and the giant vessel is expected to enter into service in 2020.

The construction of the steel giant of the seas has involved six shipyards from across the UK and over 10,000 workers.
