Video: MOL Prestige Medevac

Canadian Armed Forces have released a video of the rescue operation of the crew members from MOL Prestige containership who had been injured in an engine fire that broke out onboard on February 1.

On Thursday, 442 Squadron Comox was dispatched to the scene to airlift two injured sailors, who have reportedly been in the engine room when the fire started.

A third crewman was medevaced on the following day.

The 2006-built ship is manned by 23 crew members, out of which five are believed to have sustained injuries, two of them minor burns.

The engine room fire has been extinguished since, and the extent of damage caused by the incident is still being assessed.

The fire has left the vessel adrift some 207 nautical miles south-west of Haida Gwaii, British Columbia.

The Canadian Coast Guard Ship Sir Wilfrid Laurier has been dispatched to the scene to assist the stricken containership.

MOL Prestige departed the Port of Vancouver on January 29, 2018 destined for the Port of Tokyo.
