The victim, who went missing on July 22, was found in 340 ft of water (104 m) near Lake Mead’s Boulder Islands in Nevada. The search team consisted of ERG personnel, National Park Service rangers, Nevada Department of Wildlife game wardens, and volunteers.

ERG also assisted with the recovery of the victim, due to deteriorating weather conditions which delayed the arrival of divers on scene. The search team recovered the body using a snare assembly secured to the top of the VideoRay’s manipulator arm. Custom-built by ERG for this recovery, the assembly can be easily removed once the object of interest has been snared, according to Steve Schafer.

This is the fourth drowning victim recovery on Lake Mead in the past year.
