Vineyard Wind Meetings to Proceed Despite Shutdown

The US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will reschedule public meetings for the 800MW Vineyard Wind wind projects offshore Massachusetts ”very soon”, according to David Bernhardt, the Interior Department’s Acting Secretary.

As previously reported, BOEM postponed public meetings scheduled for January due to the government shutdown.

BOEM will use carryover funds which were previously appropriated by Congress to reschedule the public meetings, Bernhardt said.

The 800MW Vineyard Wind is North America’s first large-scale offshore wind farm, scheduled to enter the construction phase this year and expected to be operational in 2021.

The project is being developed by Vineyard Wind LLC, a joint venture between Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
