Vroon’s Subsea Support Vessel Ready for Its First Task

Vroon has christened its subsea support vessel (SSV) VOS Star, in a ceremony held in Dordrecht, the Netherlands,

The vessel was named by Lianne Maandag, wife of Evert Maandag, Vroon Head QHSE.

The 68 meters long VOS Star is one of the two newbuilding SSVs to have been constructed at Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding in China.

After arriving in Amsterdam earlier this month, an active heave-compensated crane was installed on the vessel and, according to Vroon, the vessel is now ready to start its first charter in the subsea-support market.

The vessel will perform subsea cable retrieval and cable lay services for VBMS. To perform these tasks the vessel is mobilised with a ROV, subsea jetting tools and cable reels.
