Western Australia Gets First Tidal Power Station

Albany’s 40-megawatt tidal power station received Government approval to become Western Australia’s first tidal power station.

Albany has been identified as Australia’s best location for a wave energy plant development.

The Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Russ Clark was quoted as saying: “I guess it comes down to the infrastructure cost to get these things organized.

“Certainly as technology is improved and costs are reduced and needs rise it is an alternative.

“As we move forward we’ve got to be looking at these opportunities to create energy and electricity and create things for a grid.”
