The gas-powered Volvo FH LNG 460 truck is being trialed as part of the company’s push to explore alternative fuels, Wincanton said in a statement.

Data from the trial will be scrutinized by the Wincanton technical team and also fed back to Volvo as part of the ongoing development of the vehicle.

Wincanton’s group fleet director, Carl Hanson, said the company is “reviewing the merits of gas-powered trucks,” along with the investment in electric vehicles.

The company aims to gather insight into the performance, cost and suitability of the vehicle during the trial period which will affect Wincanton’s future investment options, he added.
