Windcarrier Launches Its First German Business Unit

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier has opened its first German business unit in Hamburg. 

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier GmbH, which opened officially on January 1st 2015, will be the centre of business development activity for the company’s interests in the German offshore wind market, focused on identifying and securing new business opportunities.

The office will also support the interests of Denmark based related companies Universal Foundation and Global Wind Service who will utilise the office facilities in Hamburg, adding to their existing operations in Germany.

Heading up the new German business operation is Iris Stempfle, general manager, joining the company from her previous position as project manager grid affairs at German electric utilities company EnBW.

Rolf Normann, managing director of Fred. Olsen Windcarrier and Fred. Olsen Ocean said: “Fred. Olsen Windcarrier is committed to the German market and it is essential that we have the right team in place to drive it forwards.”

Iris has a Master’s degree in Scandinavian studies, business administration and politics. She is well equipped to head up the German office for a company of Norwegian heritage, having previously worked for Innovation Norway as a senior consultant for Renewable Energy.
