Wintershall awards base contract for Brage field to CCB

Oil and gas company Wintershall has awarded the Norwegian services and supply company Coast Center Base (CBB) a five-year base contract to supply the Brage field in the North Sea.

Wintershall picked CCB for the job as Mongstad, where CCB operates from, lies just 125km from the field, limiting the sailing time to and from Brage.

The short distance limits fuel costs, helping Wintershall manage its environmental footprint, the company said in a press release.

The field is already supplied out of Mongstad, meaning Wintershall can also continue an arrangement to share a supply vessel with other operators located at the base. The five-year contract can be extended for up to 15 years.

“We are already very satisfied with the service we receive from Mongstad. This contract gives us the flexibility to continue supplying our field from this location until the end of the next decade and even beyond,” said Bernd Schrimpf, Wintershall Norge Managing Director.

Wintershall took over operatorship of the Brage field from Statoil in October 2013.

CCB recently also signed a contract with Statoil for the maintenance of Statoil’s subsea equipment along the Norwegian coast.
