Wood Group Gulf of Mexico Contracts Valued at $550 Mln

Wood Group’s business in the Gulf of Mexico is robust, with annualized revenue in the region totaling more than $550 million. Activity is being driven by three of Wood Group’s business units – Wood Group Mustang, Wood Group Kenny and Wood Group PSN – with more than 3,500 personnel providing engineering, operations & maintenance services across the region.

Wood Group Mustang is a market leader in the design of topsides for floating facilities and has designed more than half of the 42 floating facilities currently installed in the deepwater US Gulf of Mexico. Currently, the greenfield process & facilities engineering business is providing engineering services for the topsides of 10 Gulf of Mexico facilities, with the combined potential to add almost one million barrels of oil per day (BOPD) to the world energy supply. The engineering services being provided range from:

– pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) to detailed design for six greenfield projects, including two in Mexico’s Bay of Campeche;

– follow-on services for five platforms; and

– full main automation contractor (MAC) services for two platforms.

Meanwhile, Wood Group Kenny, specialists in subsea and pipeline engineering, is providing engineering services for nine customers for 12 deepwater Gulf of Mexico projects in water depths from 2,700 feet to 7,000 feet (820 – 2,130 meters).

Wood Group Kenny’s engineering services include FEED and detailed design of subsea developments, design of a deepwater export pipeline, subsea operations support and integrity management services.

Wood Group Mustang’s and Wood Group Kenny’s deepwater expertise often leads to the two businesses providing complementary services on the same project. Both are currently providing technical services on six deepwater Gulf of Mexico facilities, including Chevron’s Jack & St. Malo field, the first ultra-deepwater development in the Lower Tertiary Trend.

Adding to Wood Group’s Gulf of Mexico activities, Wood Group PSN, the brownfield production services business, was recently awarded a five-year contract by Hess to support the Baldpate, Tubular Bells and Stampede platforms. Services to be provided include operations & maintenance and the development of a computerized maintenance management system.

Across the Gulf of Mexico Wood Group PSN:

– is supporting almost 70 operators on around 1,400 manned and unmanned platforms;

– has more than 2,900 personnel; and

– is providing operations & maintenance, measurement and mechanical services, commissioning, training and development consulting, and specialty services such as medics and safety technicians.

“Wood Group’s business has grown significantly since our early days in the Gulf of Mexico market. Our success can be attributed to our people, the relationships they’ve built with our customers, and their focus on working safely and seeking to assure the safety of everything we design, construct, operate and maintain,” explained Bob Keiller, CEO of Wood Group. “Our people work to understand our customers so we can anticipate their needs and aim to exceed their expectations. They are the heart of our business.”
