Wood Group wins Brazilian engineering contract with Karoon
UK-based energy services company Wood Group has been awarded a multi-year contract from Karoon Petróleo & Gás to provide engineering services for the full development of the Echidna field offshore Brazil.
Wood Group said on Thursday that this marked the first project between the two companies.
The company added that the contract would be executed by Wood Group’s Rio de Janeiro office focusing on the technical requirements of a floating production unit (FPU) and subsea structures, and all bid package evaluations and execution phase.
The equipped FPU will be located in the Echidna field within the Santos Basin and moored in a maximum water depth of 400 meters.
The Echidna field is located in exploration blocks S-M-1102 and S-M-1037, some 20 kilometers north-east of Kangaroo prospect on the eastern flank of a salt diapir.
The Echidna-1 well, spud in 2015, intersected a 213 meter (699 foot) gross oil column (341 feet net) in Paleocene and Maastrichtian-aged reservoirs. Karoon Petróleo & Gas, subsidiary of Australian oil company Karoon Gas, is the operator of the field with a 100 percent interest.
