Australian LNG player Woodside has submitted the Scarborough development Offshore Project Proposal (OPP) to the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environment Management Authority (NOPSEMA), inviting public comments.

The Scarborough gas resource is located approximately 375 km west-north-west off the Burrup Peninsula and is part of the Greater Scarborough gas fields.

Woodside is proposing to develop the Scarborough gas field through new offshore facilities connected by an approximately 430 km export pipeline to onshore processing facilities. The company’s preferred concept is to expand the Pluto LNG onshore facility with a second LNG train.

“The public comment period provides an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the OPP, which evaluates the potential environmental impacts and risks associated with activities to be conducted over the life of the proposed offshore Scarborough development,” Woodside said in its statement.

The Scarborough OPP will be available for public comment from July 5 to August 30, 2019, with Woodside inviting comments on the OPP during the eight-week period.
