Woodside: No Sunrise solution on the horizon

Australia’s Woodside said there is still no certainty over the Greater Sunrise gas fields development.

The company that holds 33.44% and is the operator of the Sunrise project, holding a contingent resource of 5.13 Tcf of gas, informed it is still engaged with booth governments to facilitate the timely progression of the development.

According to the company’s Chief Executive, Peter Coleman, the next step depends on the development of the talks between the governments of Australia and East Timor. He stressed that the company is looking for a development concept that is acceptable to both governments.

He did, however, say that there is no certain timeframe for settling the dispute.

Coleman also added that he doesn’t expect that recent changes in East Timor’s leadership will make any significant contribution to the progress of the development.

The other Sunrise project partners are ConocoPhillips, Royal Dutch Shell and Osaka Gas of Japan.
