Work at DanTysk OWF Ramping Up

Since the construction on Vattenfall’s DanTysk offshore wind farm kicked off at the beginning of this month, the site has been crowded with vessels, massive components and workers.

Vattenfall’s Holger Grubel wrote an update on the company’s blog, saying that the heavy lift vessel Oleg Strashnov, accompanied by tug boats and anchor handling tugs, is on its way to the site with the jacket structure for the Sylwin Alpha transformer platform. The platform will transform and transmit up to 864 MW of energy generated by the DanTysk and Butendiek wind farms to the German mainland.

Furthermore, a milestone was achieved at the offshore wind farm recently, with bringing of the DanTysk offshore substation to the final commissioning stage. This accomplishment required much more work than expected, so the jack-up vessel GMS Endeavour is now anchored next to the substation to accommodate workers, Mr. Grubel informed.

He added that, after the first wind turbine was erected a few weeks ago, the turbine installation is picking up speed, so now there are a couple of wind turbines installed.

“After having been in winter mode for some time we are now, as the first wind turbines are erected, ready to provide the power to the turbines that is needed to keep these warm, dry and well treated until the grid will be fully commissioned,” Vattenfall’s Holger Grubel wrote.
