The accident occurred on Friday 13th of June at approximately 11 a.m. The worker, a man at age of around 40, fell into a tank in a drilling rig.

According to Westcon, he was conscious after the fall and was quickly taken care of by medical personnel.

He was transported to Haukeland Hospital by helicopter, and his health condition was at that point considered to be critical.

“After medical treatment through the weekend, the condition has now improved,” Westcon says.

The man is an employee of a subcontractor of Westcon, and he is not a Norwegian citizen. His next-of-kin are present in Bergen. Westcon Yard said it would continue to follow up the injured worker and his family in cooperation with his employer.

The police and the Labor Inspection Authority conduct their routine investigations, and Westcon contributes to this effort in order to clarify the cause of the incident, the company added.
