PIAF Urges Early Completion of Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline

Pakistan Industrial and Trader Associations Front (PIAF) has urged the government to ensure completion of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project within the given timeframe.

The pipeline would not only mark a new chapter in the history of Iran-Pakistan bilateral relations but would also help to bring dream of industrial revolution into reality, the PIAF Chairman Malik Tahir Javed said in a statement.

He added that completion of this project before 2014 would help overcome energy problems and improve energy supply to the manufacturing and industrial sector. Such moves would ultimately make the country’s industrial units more competitive in the international market, he noted.

He stressed that energy crisis has shattered the industrial structure while millions of industrial workers lost their jobs, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

Javed said that early completion of this very important mega project would be a great favour to the nation in general and business community in particular, as energy was a basic raw material of the industrial sector.

This project would also provide gas to the power producing units which would definitely improve the competitiveness of export-oriented industries, he concluded.
