STX Sun Rise is expected to arrive to Panama in mid-June, depending on weather conditions.

This is another important milestone towards the completion of a project that will have an important impact on the international maritime community,” said Panama Canal Administrator Jorge Luis Quijano.

The Panama Canal Expansion Program is the largest engineering effort to be undertaken at the canal since the original construction of the waterway began more than a century ago. The program is currently 74% complete.
