Italy: Historic Passenger Ship Ambriabella to Become Luxury Mega-Yacht

Historic Passenger Ship Ambriabella to Become Luxury Mega-Yacht

Italy-based Quaiat Yard is about to start restoration of the historic passenger ship Ambriabella and convert her into an extraordinary motor yacht. The ambitious project wants to rebuild and transform the Ambriabella into a luxury mega-yacht.

The Ambriabella restoration project calls for turning her into a luxury super-yacht that can host 12 guests in six large suites and nine crew members. Her materials, her design, indeed every single detail of the restoration project reflect the best contemporary made-in-Italy style and the highest standards of excellence. She saves her best for her new ship-owner, who will be destined to write Ambriabella’s new story in the first person.

New Ambriabella’s project

The Main deck

A welcome lobby. A kitchen/storeroom for guests. A majestic dining room. But most of all, an exclusive area for the ship-owner, the undisputed star of Ambriabella’s main deck, which features original solutions for hosting the ship-owner in the deckhouse that takes up the entire width of the central-forward area of the deck. This large space is well lit by abundant natural light. It features a private entrance to the studio, and a full-width suite which takes full advantage of the distinctive vintage windows. A central area serves as a changing room, and next to it is a washroom with separate sanitary facilities.

The two souls of the lower deck

One super-VIP cabin, two VIP cabins in the central part of the yacht, and two standard cabins, all with private bathrooms, are ready to host ten guests. Ambriabella’s hospitality architecture is located forward on the lower deck. A roomy crew area is located at the stern of the lower deck: it features four double cabins, a kitchen, a dinette and a large laundry room with a linen closet.

Open-air Ambriabella: outdoor area

At the bow is the ship-owners exclusive rest and relaxation area. The tender is located here as well. One part of the stern is used as a dining area, while the other houses the onboard toys.

The upper deck

The upper deck’s interior is characterized by a stylish sky-lounge, the captain’s cabin with the ship’s office, and the bridge. Outdoors on the upper deck is an ample rest and relaxation area for guests, and another, more reserved and exclusive outdoor dining area.

Three different type of propulsion are foreseen for Ambriabella project.

Traditional

It means that traditional Main Engines directly connected, trough Reduction Gear, to propeller. Electrical Power is supplied by two DDGG, mainly for Hotel and Crew electrical load and partially for Main Engines.

Diesel Electric

It means that the Main Engine for the propulsion are Electrical Engines directly connected to the propellers. Electrical Power is supplied by four DDGG able to supply the entire electrical power for Hotel, Crew and Propulsion electrical load.

The advantages are:

  • Optimize the Engine Room arrangement
  • Optimize the efficiency at different loading condition

Hybrid

It means that the Diesel Electric solution is implemented by battery package able to supply the vessel in certain condition. At low speed (5 kn) and for a short period (about 2-3 hours), the Yacht can operate with “zero emission” and “zero noise”, using only the batteries and the Electrical Main Engines. The photovoltaic panels assure the batteries charging during the day.
