CIC-Changxing Shipyard Mends Defects on F. Laeisz Group’s “CSAV RIO ITATA” (Shanghai)

F.Laeisz Group’s  “CSAV RIO ITATA” has been subjected to emergency repair at CIC-Changxing Shipyard. The vessel’s crew requested an emergency repair while  loading the cargo at Waigaoqiao Terminal.

A defect was found on Oct. 16th on her 30-Ton CO2 system, therefore there was a need for immediate repair in order for the ship to be able to set sail from the Shanghai Port according to MSA’s rule. The shipyard was given a three day deadline for completion of repair works.

The shipyard immediately responded to the  demand, arranged berth and special company for CO2 refill. The shipyard’s personnel worked overtime so as to meet the deadline. CIC-Changxing Shipyard completed the job one day in advance at 3:00 am, Oct. 18. She successfully sailed one day earlier than the owner’s requirement.

This is the first time a Ro-Ro ship repair was conducted at CIC-CX for LAEISZ.
