Cargo Ship Sinks off Northern Coast of Turkey

 

Cargo ship Volgo Balt 199 sank in the Black Sea near the Turkish city of Istanbul. Three of twelve crew members that were reported missing have been saved, while nine are still searched after, BBC reports.

The ship sank off the town of Sile on Istanbul’s coast due to stormy weather.

“We confirmed that the ship sank,” Salih Orakci, head of the Directorate General of Coastal Safety, told Turkish TV, according to Reuters news agency, adding that the search for the missing people continues.
