 Turkey and Pakistan Sign Shipbuilding Contract

An important contract for the construction of a Fleet Tanker/Logistics Support Ship for Pakistan Navy was signed, on 22 Jan, between Ministry of Defence Production (MoDP), Pakistan and M/s STM of Turkey.

Under the contract, design of the ship will be provided by Turkish company M/s STM while the complete construction and assembly activities will be undertaken by Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Ltd (KSEW). This 15,600-ton tanker with its modern design and state-of-the-art capabilities will significantly improve Pakistan Navy’s fleet combat abilities.

This marks the first military agreement between Turkey and Pakistan.

KSEW is basically designed to build and repair ships. Since 1957 when it commenced its commercial production, it has built over 430 vessels of different types and sizes for different nations.
