Scana Steel Stavanger Wins Contract from Samsung Heavy

Scana Industrier ASA has, through its subsidiary Scana Steel Stavanger, been awarded a new contract from Samsung Heavy Industry for delivery of steel casting intended for the Australian Ichthys project, representing a value of NOK 36 million (approx $6.1 million).

Including previously received orders from Samsung for the same project, the total value adds up to NOK 93 million ($15.8).

The project will commence activity immediately, and deliveries will complete by the end of 2013.

The new contract includes approx. 60 casting components which are part of the mooring system for the Ichthys project.

The Ichthys LNG project is a joint venture between INPEX (operator) and Total. Gas from the Ichthys Field (Browse Basin approximately 200 kilometers offshore Western Australia) will undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and extract condensate. The condensate will be pumped to the FPSO facility (being built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering) anchored nearby, from which it will be transferred to tankers for delivery to markets. The gas will then be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 889 kilometers subsea pipeline. The Ichthys LNG project is expected to produce 8.4 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of LPG per annum, along with approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.
