Vietnam - Dung Quat Shipbuilding Launches Oil Tanker PVT MERCURY

The 104,000 DWT crude oil tanker is the first big deadweight ton, as well as modern vessel producted in Vietnam. This product has ​​great volume of precision engineering and compliacation of equipment installation that requires skillful labors and high technology applied in new building.

With positive management and guidance of Petrovietnam and the efforts of all DQS members, cooperation of Owner, VR & ABS Classification Society, 104,000 DWT Crude oil tanker named PVT MERCURY was ensured the best conditions and officially launched.

Depth mounded to upper deck at side: 20m

Deadweight: 104,000 DWT

Main engines: Diesel MAN BMW 6S60MC-C

Speed approx: 14.5 knots

A successful launching of the tanker is a milestone marking an outstanding development of domestic shipbuilding industry and a momentous turning-point assisting DQS capacity meeting requirements of domestic and international customers.

From the beginning of the year, DQS has concentrated work force to complete and hand over several key repairing products, such as VSP-05 barge, Ba Vi FSO, PVT Eagle Oil Tanker, Sao Mai 01 Supply Vessel, Sao Mai 03 Supply Vessel, Hoang Sa Crane barge (repaired at berth), Con Son Crane barge (repaired at berth). Moreover, DQS has fabricated other steel structure for domestic clients.

Presently, DQS focuses on completion of 104,000 DWT crude oil tanker and continue building 105,000 DWT. In addition, DQS will receive Truong Sa Crane Vessel, Hoang Sa Crane Barge, Con Son Pipe-Line Laying Crane Barge for repairing and conversion until the end of 2011. In early next year, DQS is expected to build service ship for Vietsovpetro J.V., and continue the cooperation with foreign partners like IHI Marine United Inc., Japan for building 56,000 DWT Bulk Carrier.
