Germany: Nordic Yards Cuts Steel for WIND SERVER

Nordic Yards Cutts Steel for Wind Turbine Service Jack-Up Vessel

The official Steel Cutting Ceremony for DBB’s third jack-up vessel was held on 22 April 2013 at Nordic Yard’s facility in Wismar, Germany.

Self-propelled and DP-2, WIND SERVER has been specifically designed for operation and maintenance services in the offshore wind industry. Replacement of key components requires extensive jack-up capabilities and this vessel will be able to perform the operation on large turbines in deep waters.

DBB Jack-Up is focusing on offshore wind O&M and developing vessels and services to support both Utilities and turbine manufacturers.

“Growing site complexity makes offshore logistics even more challenging and purpose-built vessels for O&M is just one part of the puzzle, helping our clients reduce costs and increase productivity,” says Thorsten Jalk, CEO at DBB Jack-Up Services A/S.

DBB’s first jack-up WIND, is currently undertaking O&M works on wind farms in the UK, while their second jack-up WIND PIONEER is entering the final stages of its conversion and will be operational later this year.

WIND SERVER will be the third O&M jack-up in DBB’s fleet and is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2014.
