Petrobras CEO Elected Petroleum Executive of the Year (Brazil)

Petrobras CEO, José Sergio Gabrielli de Azevedo (photo), was nominated Petroleum Executive of 2011 by Energy Intelligence, a renowned information service for the energy sector. Gabrielli was chosen from leaders of many of 100 largest oil companies in the world.

According to the president of Energy Intelligence, Thomas Wallins, this ion reflects Gabrielli’s success in leading Petrobras during a period of enormous growth, that’s seen it become the second largest oil company in the world by market value, and encompassed the discovery of vast deep water oil and gas reserves in the pre-salt area – the most important new petroleum discovery of the last 10 years.

Energy Intelligence has also stated that under Gabrielli’s management, Petrobras’ new finds should more than double its oil and gas reserves and output in the next few years, and also has marked its position as the leader in deep water E&P technology, with one of the highest safety and efficiency levels of the sector.

The award ceremony will take place on October 10, during the 32nd Oil&Money Annual Conference in London.
