Oceanographic research ship of the Russian Navy’s Baltic Fleet (BF) “Admiral Vladimirsky” left the port of Pevek and is heading for the Russian city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

The vessel is expected to arrive at its destination in about 10 days.

During the visit to Pevek the crew met with local officials to discuss the development of the Northern Sea Route.

As part of the circumnavigation “Admiral Vladimirsky”will be conducting oceanographic research, collecting information for correction of nautical charts, guidelines and manuals for navigation, and will check radio navigation systems.

The vessel will sail along the Northern Sea Route and cross the Baltic, North and Barents seas, the Bering Sea, the northern part of the Pacific Ocean, then pass through the Panama Canal to cross the Atlantic Ocean and after passing the English Channel, the southern part of the North Sea, the Danish straits it will finally finish the circumnavigation in the Baltic Sea.
