PSA Inspects Teekay’s Management of Petrojarl Knarr

Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has carried out an audit of Teekay Petrojarl Production AS (Teekay) and its management of maintenance of Petrojarl Knarr.

Knarr is an oil field in the northern sector of the North Sea, around 50 kilometers north-east of Snorre.

Knarr has been developed using a floating production and storage vessel (FPSO) and two subsea wells.

The object of the audit was to evaluate how Teekay is ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and its own requirements in respect of maintenance (including condition monitoring and inspection) of the facility.

The audit did not identify any regulatory non-conformities, but did find three areas with potential for improvement. These are barriers, non-conformity handling and environmental risk reduction, PSA explained.

PSA gave a deadline to Teekay to report by September 15, 2017, on how the company will assess these factors.

Shell is the operator of the Knarr field, while Teekay owns and operates Petrojarl Knarr on behalf of the licensees.
