Norway Gives Green Light for Vigdis Subsea Boosting Station

Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has approved the Vigdis boosting station increased oil recovery (IOR) project in the North Sea.

Vigdis field, located in the Tampen area of the North Sea, has been developed with seven subsea templates and produces oil through the Snorre field.

The boosting station will help to increase recovery and accelerate production rate from the Vigids field from the current 45 percent to 54 percent.

On completion of the project, production from the Vigdis field will be increased by almost 11 million barrels.

Vigdis has already produced twice what it thought was possible when the field was put into production. This project increases value creation from the field and gives new assignments to the supplier industry,” said state secretary Rikard Gaarder Knutsen.

The licensees plan to invest about NOK 1.4 billion in the project, which will increase the recoverable reserves from the field. Expected start-up is in the first quarter of 2021.

The Vigdis field is operated by Equinor with 41.5 per cent share.
