Qatargas presents several papers at IPTC

Qatargas, the world’s largest LNG producer, participated in the International Petroleum Technology Conference held in Kuala Lumpur last week.

The Qatargas delegation attending the conference was led by Khalid Bin Abdulla Al-Thani, Chief Operating Officer, Engineering & Ventures and Ghanim Al-Kuwari, Chief Operating Officer, Administration, presenting several papers covering a variety of subjects.

The paper titled “Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction for an LNG Plant – Technology Assessment Study” presented by Afzal A. Subedar, GHG Management Specialist discussed the technology assessment study undertaken by Qatargas with the objective of identifying opportunities to reduce GHG emissions through energy efficiency and operational improvements.

Another paper titled “Safe and Efficient Method of Surface Interception to Access Outermost Sealed Annulus Charged with Abnormal Gas Pressure – Relieves Well Integrity Concerns” presented by Prashun Kumar Das, Head of Well Intervention. The paper explained the reasons of abnormal pressure build up in the outermost sealed annulus in some of Qatargas offshore wells, analyzed the associated risks, deliberated the method adopted and the challenges faced to safely install a real-time monitoring and bleed off arrangement.
